Concerned with the consequences of trauma, defense mechanisms and healing processes on identity, Mylene explores the power of found objects, textile and fiber techniques to transmit an experience, a memory or a feeling. Her meticulously handmade objects, drawings and sculptural installations are means of re-writing history.

Born in 1979 on the South shore of Montreal, Mylene Raiche is texture-obsessed. She comes from a family where manual labor is highly valued and who passed on the satisfaction of doing things oneself. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Studio Arts - Fibres and Material Practices at the Concordia University. In 2015, she obtained her BFA with distinction in Painting and Drawing from the Concordia University and the California State University of Long Beach, California. She participated in a number of group shows and solo shows both in the United States and in Quebec.
